One of our families favorite places to travel in Alberta is in David Thompson Country. This area of Alberta is a Gem that connects the flat prairies into the majestic Canadian Rockies. We decided to check out Jurassic Forest located just outside of Gibbons Alberta, a short drive North from the City of Edmonton. What a fun place to take the family for a couple of hours and explore the Old Growth forest with Prehistoric Animatronic Dinosaurs hidden throughout. We pre booked our timeslot on there website as required for limited capacity during Covid. We lucked out and got the first timeslot of the day and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Coal Lake Alberta is a beautiful lake to visit with the family for fishing, boating, paddling or hiking and is located approximately 60 km south of Edmonton Alberta. There are private homes and property that line certain areas of the lake but all the homes are mostly hidden. South Coal lake has a boat launch and campground that we have never visited before.  Coal Lake is 11km Long with a max depth of 18ft. The main inflow and outflow of Coal Lake is the Pipestone Creek.
